It is reported employment increased from 9.78 million in December 2017 to 9.83 million in March 2018. This, largely contributed by community services, construction manufacturing, and business services sectors.

What is even more impressive is that, overall employment increased by 74 000 or 0.8% between March 2017 and March 2018.” adds Dr Vilakazi.

The announcement by Stats SA follows shortly after the CDC marked a significant milestone since the inception of the organisation with over hundred thousand (100 000) jobs created in the Coega project.

“It is important, the milestone we have achieved is propels us to greater heights. As a result, the CDC has contributed a further one thousand eight hundred (1800) jobs currently under construction at the Coega SEZ from three different projects. Those projects Osho Cement plant (R600 million) with hundred and fifty (150) jobs, the BAIC automotive manufacturing plant (R11 billion) with one thousand five hundred (1500) jobs and lastly, the Customs Control (CC) Warehouse (R36 million) investment with over hundred and fifty (150) jobs,” concludes Dr Vilakazi.
