Chippa United will welcome Ajax Cape Town to the Nelson Mandela Stadium on Friday 29 August 2014.

This match still holds a key rivalry for the two clubs. Two months ago Chippa Utd shared territories with the Urban Warriors while in the Western Cape. Now a new battle has emerged as both teams fight it out for the best team in the Cape.

The two teams have only played twice at this level, with the Urban Warriors victorious in one clash and a draw settling on the scoreboard in the other.

For Chippa Utd this game represents an opportunity to get back into “winning ways” after their two recent prior losses.

The team will be hoping to turn their opportunities into goals after former striker, George Akpabio left Ajax Cape Town this week to rejoin the Chilli Boys in Port Elizabeth. The Nigerian striker was the top goal scorer for Chippa in the NFD with 11 goals playing a crucial part in the Chilli Boys return to the premiership.

With coach Kosta Papic taking his rightful place on the bench after his paperwork came through, Chippa have every reason to believe in getting maximum points at the encounter.

More good news for the team is the availability of no less than four players in strategic positions.

Goal keeper Fatah Dauda will be bringing his experience into the team after playing for Ghana at the World Cup in Brazil; and Jabulani Nene will be available in defense after waiting for more than a month to be released from his previous employers Golden Arrows.

Ugonna Uzochukwu (Nigeria) and Eric Chipeta (Zimbabwe) will finally kick a ball for Chippa Utd after receiving a work permit from home affairs.

Chippa Utd enthusiasts are urged to continue with the great support they have showed the team thus far and are encouraged them come in numbers in support of their team.

BUT, with Chippa currently occupying the second last spot (3 points) on the PSL standings and Ajax occupying the second spot (10 points) I think that the chances of me scoring a free dinner are pretty good – see video below:
