CATCH Projects selected as beneficiary for 2026 Algoa Cares Charity Golf Day

21 May 2026 By Alan Straton

CATCH Projects, which supports around 50 000 residents living in the Mzamomhle near Gonubie, has been selected as the beneficiary for the Algoa Cares Charity Golf Day hosted with Meyers Motors Isuzu, to be held at the East London Golf Club on Friday, July 3, 2026.

The funds raised will go towards the purchase of a portable office for the CATCH social workers to use for confidential counselling.

CATCH projects runs a number of community development and support projects, including afterschool clubs attended by over 1 200 children, a schools’ outreach programme, support for students entering tertiary education, informal creches, food provision, and a training centre which is a work in progress, according to director Delight Theresa Omoike.

“The CATCH social workers need a confidential room for counselling the very many clients who come forward for help.

“The small unit will also be used for conducting play therapy with child clients,” she said.

“Algoa FM calls on all golfers and businesses in Buffalo City to support the CATCH Project, which was started by Sue Davies as a retirement project some 26 years ago,” says Alfie Jay, managing director of Algoa FM.

The 2026 theme for the fun Algoa Cares Charity Golf Days is “the ‘80’s” to mark the station’s 40th year of broadcasting.

To book a fourball or sponsor a hole prize, please contact Stefan Ferreira on 078 800 5527 / stefan@steamm.co.za.

Entries close on Friday, June 26.
