The first eight small business owners and professionals to complete the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber’s Capacity Building programme received their certificates in a small ceremony in the Chamber’s board room today.
The programme – run in collaboration with COMSEC and with the support of Standard Bank – aimed to equip small business owners with the skills needed to run their businesses successfully.
“We are pleased to see the first group of eight entrepreneurs move through the Capacity Building Programme. Their success underscores the Business Chamber’s commitment to the development of SMEs within the Nelson Mandela Bay region,” says Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber CEO Kevin Hustler. “We are grateful to Standard Bank and COMSEC for their contribution to the success of this programme. Together, we are building on the foundation of support for small business already in place at the Business Chamber, in the form of the SME Helpdesk and business mentorship programme.”
The Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber’s Capacity Building Programme focuses on basic business principles. Taught in a modular format, the programme includes modules covering business planning, marketing, human resources, financial management, customer care, legal requirements and business ethics.
The subsidized, accredited programme is made available to small business owners in Nelson Mandela Bay at a considerably reduced cost. A second programme is planned for later in the year.
