Join Port Elizabeth and MyPE in congratulating Mover and Shaker, Brett Hoppe, the new General Manager at The Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment World.

Hoppe has moved back to the Eastern Cape has taken office after working in properties around the world for Sun International over the past 25 years.

Hoppe joined Sun International as junior assistant food and beverage manager at the Fish River Sun in 1990.

After holding various positions throughout the Sun International group both in South Africa and Egypt, he held the post of General Manager: Events and Incentives (Sun City) prior to being transferred to Sun International Headquarters as International Sales and Marketing Manager.

In this position, Brett was responsible for servicing nearly 1,200 contracted operators, as well as providing a support function for Sun International offshore offices. In this role he was directly responsible for Australasia, South America, Africa, GCC and Middle East, whilst providing support for the off-shore structures operating in North America and Europe.

Based in Cairo from January 2007 until July 2008, Brett held the position of Director of Sales and Marketing for Sun International whilst the company developed the Port Ghalib Resort for the M.A.Kharafi Group in Marsa Alam, Egypt.

Before Egypt, Brett was Project Marketing Manager at SIHO responsible for a number of high profile projects within the Resorts Division and was tasked with re-evaluating work streams, processes and policies in order to ensure global best practice. Brett was also Project Manager 2010 FIFA World Cup, for Sun International Resorts.

Brett transfers to The Boardwalk from his position as General Manager of the Sun City Hotel and Casino where he recently completed a 6-month stint as Resort Acting Director of Operations – Sun City Resort.
