Boomerang Rock

13 November 2012 By Alan Straton

Every year ‘Do You Rock?’ just gets bigger and bigger, with 2012 being no different. On the 22nd of October Central experienced a power outage and left the Opera House and the Do You Rock finals in the dark with only half of the contestants having performed.

Do You Rock has prizes over the value of R200 000 to give away to the winner. This includes a 4-track CD recording, publishing sponsorship, photo shoot, website design and hosting and so much more.

To finalise the Do You Rock 2012 competition, a ‘Boomerang Event’ takes place on 15 November at the PE Opera House. Doors will open at 18:00 and the performance will start at 18:30. At ‘The Boomerang Event’ you will see the four contestants who have already performed and been judged doing one song to remind us why they should win as well as the other six performing their two songs.

Also on the bill are amazing performances from Jessi Baron – last year’s winner of Do You Rock? – as well as Shoelace Rockaszoul who has taken the industry by storm over the last year.

This month you get a second chance to join in on the success of our local talent. Tickets are available from the Kingfisher FM offices at The Market at Kings Court for only R50. Call 041 368 9740 for more details or to book your place. Don’t miss out!

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
