Dear Editor
The attached photo which was taken early in February and shows the yield sign missing from the railway crossing in Verdun Road.
The contractor doing road alterations removed it and has still not replaced it. This minor road work (widening of the road) has also still not been completed yet.
The dullish yield marking painted on the road is not visible until you are virtually on top of it because of the upward gradient approaching the crossing as seen in the photograph from the position of the driver. At night a driver cannot see the road marking at all.
Although this particular railway line is not used at present all crossings need to be approached in a cautious manner at all times for obvious reasons.
The railway maintenance staff also from time to time drive along this line in their diesel or electric powered vehicle.
Regards
Mike
