Nelson Mandela Bay’s best hope of Premier Soccer League (PSL) participation, Bay Stars, are hoping to kick off the second half of the 2011/2012 season with a bang this weekend when they take on Matta Milan at the Idutywa Stadium at 15:00 tomorrow.
Stars’ Coach Graham Harrison warned that even though the team managed to beat Matta Milan at the Gelvandale Stadium last year, fans must understand that tomorrow’s clash will be a different kettle of fish.
“The previous win counts for nothing at this stage since we will meet at a different field and they could even send in a completely different line-up to the one that we faced at home.
“However, we are very focused on the fact that we would like to improve on our record when it comes to away games, as these matches are always tough. We are all extremely focused on improving though,” he added.
On Monday night Bay Stars lost against Recreativo do Libolo of Angola 2 0 at NMMU but proved that they can hold their own against stiff opposition as this outfit will be playing a Confederation of African Football (CAF) match against Orlando Pirates this Sunday (19 February) at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
According to Coach Graham Harrison, the match against the tourists was a big help to try out a few combinations ahead of tomorrow’s clash.
He said that the team is confident that Bay Stars will return home with three points in the bag.
“We definitely hope to improve on the great first round we had thus far and hope to improve by attempting to win our remaining away games,” he added.
