Goodyear South Africa has been officially recognised by the Top Employers Institute as a Top Employer 2019 for excellence in employee conditions. Organisations certified as Top Employers dedicate themselves to providing the very best work atmosphere for employees to allow them to develop their careers and develop the business with a progressive ‘people-first’ approach. This global Certification Programme has certified and recognized Goodyear for the fourth time this year, cementing its position as the leading Top Employer tyre manufacturing company in South Africa.

The Top Employers Institute Programme provides certified organisations with the ability to leverage their employer branding, benchmark their practices against other top performers and globally align their policies. Top Employers are organisations of the highest calibre that have worked hard to create, implement and progress their people strategies. They provide an outstanding experience through strategic and thoughtful workplace programmes which create an environment that empowers and develops employees.

Top Employer Institute CEO, David Plink, says that, “We believe that the 2019 Certified organisations demonstrate exceptional employee conditions and encourage the development of these practices by putting their people first. These companies help enrich the world of work with their outstanding dedication to HR excellence and because of this, they are recognised as an employer of choice.”

While Goodyear celebrates being certified as Top Employer 2019, they also celebrate ‘120 Years of Innovation’ this year and the journey to these successes have only been made smoother by the people who have partnered with Goodyear to create an engaged, agile and an enabling work atmosphere. Promoting collaboration and having energised teams is core to how Goodyear builds talent and a motivated and engaged workforce. It is for this reason that Goodyear is proud to be a Top Employer.

Darren Hayes-Powell, Group Managing Director of Goodyear South Africa, spoke further on what it means to be a Top Employer for Goodyear by stating, “Goodyear has built a reputation as a customer-focused, agile leader in the South African tyre industry. This is only achieved through high-performing, capable associates, this award is recognition of the team and associates’ performance.”

In previous years, Goodyear has managed to receive the Top Employer Seal three times. “The 2019 certification is our fourth and is testament that our efforts of creating a great place to work, makes us part of a global community of forward-thinking organisations that strive for only the best people practices,” concluded Hayes-Powell.
