For the past 3 years, Annette has owned a Private Residence in 6 Hamilton Court, Pearson Street, Central Port Elizabeth.

Annette estimates the additional monthly maintenance and cleaning costs on this asset, as the result of the manganese ore, to be in the region of R650.00 per month.

Annette has this to say about the Manganese Ore pollution from the Port of Port Elizabeth; “I am a pensioner and I cannot take it that the paintwork on my car has been damaged by the ore as well as all the metal fittings. Likewise my windows and security gates and burglar bars get corroded. The dust is everywhere and I can hardly breathe. As a pensioner dependent only on a state pension this cost plus the high cost of levys in a crime ridden heritage vicinity is a nightmare and no-one told me about this horror that one has to live with when I bought my flat. Port Elizabeth is a disgrace and the fact that this manganese ore site has not moved indicates that the city is not a friendly city but an uncaring and politically bankrupt city with no unity or will to make a difference for its residents. It focuses more on its tourists.”
