Anele’s Company with deep PE Roots

30 July 2015 By Alan Straton

MiX Telematics, a leading global provider of fleet and mobile asset management solutions, has partnered with Umsizi Fleet Management Solutions (Pty) Ltd, a 100% black owned fleet management company, as part of the expansion of its channel partner network. This alliance makes Umsizi the company’s newest channel partner in the Eastern Cape region. MiX Telematics has more than 130 channel partners globally, of which 18 are in South Africa.

Richard Coates, Sales Director at MiX Telematics (South Africa) says: “This agreement not only sees the development of a partnership but the launch of a fully-fledged fleet and mobile asset management company that offers the full range of MiX Telematics solutions in the region. Through our enterprise development strategy and commitment to black economic empowerment, we saw Umsizi as a natural fit for the MiX Telematics brand. Together we embarked on a training process to equip Umsizi with the necessary skills and resources to effectively compete and remain competitive in the fleet management space and to ensure that the company’s service levels reflect that of the overall MiX Telematics brand.”

Anele Pamba, Managing Director of Umsizi says: “As a former taxi boss and having been in the transport industry for over 20 years, I saw a gap in the market for a more localised, home-grown fleet management solutions provider within the Eastern Cape. MiX Telematics is a global provider of comprehensive fleet management, driver safety and vehicle tracking solutions – but inherently a local company. This partnership will enable us to grow the business to its highest potential in both the public and private sectors. As we continue to fight unemployment as a country, I believe this cooperation enables us to play our part in creating and developing sustainable job opportunities.”

Umsizi will offer the MiX Telematics portfolio to the region including products and services that provide fleets of all sizes with solutions for efficiency, safety, security and compliance. MiX Telematics will continue to provide support and guidance where necessary but Umsizi will be 100% responsible for all operations in the region.

“Mr. Pamba is no stranger to running a successful business and has the relevant market expertise, specific to the Eastern Cape region. Having had very successful businesses within the transport and sporting industries, we know we have partnered with the right individual to lead and grow our network in the region. We will continue to support Umsizi as they’re still in the start-up phase, but I believe with Mr. Pamba’s leadership and expertise, the business is in great hands. This is an exciting time for MiX Telematics to further extend our solutions into the Eastern Cape region with a trusted partner.” concludes Coates.

Both Coates and MiX Africa Managing Director, Brendan Horan have ties to Port Elizabeth having matriculated from Grey High School before pursuing their careers in Durban and Johannesburg. Coates is an ex EP Golfer and Horan is a CA (SA).
