ANC Nelson Mandela Bay Councillor Andile Lungisa has until today (18 )October 2018) to resign as a member of the metro’s mayoral committee.
The party’s NEC instructed Lungisa to resign following his conviction and two-year jail sentence for assaulting DA Councillor Rano Kayser during a council meeting in 2016.
Lungisa is out on bail pending a petition to the High Court for leave to appeal.
The ANC Regional Executive Committee says it stands by the decision of the NEC.
