AfriCoast warms up PE’s Extension 32 in honour of Mandela

21 July 2015 By Port Elizabethan

AFRICOAST consulting engineers recently donated blankets to warm hearts and bodies in Port Elizabeth’s Extension 32 in Bethelsdorp, as part of We Care’s Mandela Day drive.

AfriCoast Consulting director Bill Emslie said the company had donated a branded vehicle to We Care earlier this year, to aid the charity in its work among the underprivileged people in the Bethelsdorp area.

“We are pleased to be able to make a positive difference through the wonderful work of the We Care team. We salute you Madiba for inspiring an entire nation to care for one another. At Africoast we believe in the words of Nelson Mandela, who said ‘No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion. People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite’.”

We Care volunteers spent 67 minutes serving and feeding 1000 hungry children from the area.

“We want to encourage people to make a difference in their communities. We are a rainbow nation and we wanted people to embrace this,” said Ashlene Arends, CEO of We Care.

“We are very grateful to AfriCoast for their continued support. Thank you for helping us make the world a better place, one community at a time,” she added.
