Yesterday, the Democratic Alliance in the Eastern Cape held its first Provincial Council meeting since its Provincial Congress held in early May this year in which a new Provincial Leadership was elected. The meeting amongst other things, completed the work deferred by the provincial congress.
In his opening address, the Provincial Leader, Nqaba Bhanga, touched on the importance of a frank, open and honest debate about issues of race and racism, cultural diversity, and vision to look beyond our differences and find our common humanity. He also embraced his plans of taking the DA to rural areas, and called on all members to put the congress behind them and work together towards removing the ANC in 2019.
He announced the provincial leaders who he said not only sit on the provincial council but “form part of the decision making that affects each and every DA member and voter”.
