Acepak Showcases Pouch Fillers for Liquid and Food Producers

16 October 2026 By Alan Straton Leave a Comment

This October, Acepak is turning attention to its pouch filling machines. The family-owned Cape Town company builds end-of-line packaging machines and turnkey systems, and every pouch filler it sells is designed, engineered, assembled and tested at its South African head office. The timing suits producers in food, beverage, dairy and personal care, many of whom are now reviewing their lines before the busy summer trading season, with stand-up and spouted pouches still high on plenty of planning lists.

Acepak brings more than 40 years of experience to the table and supports customers in over 36 countries, stretching from South Africa to the United Kingdom. Pouch fillers are only one part of its catalogue, which also covers case packers, shrink wrappers, banding machines, palletising systems and line integration. That breadth lets producers treat pouch filling as a stage in a full end-of-line setup instead of a one-off equipment buy.

A pouch filler for every scale

The current range includes three pouch filling systems, each matched to a particular size and style of operation.

For large outputs there is the Automatic High Volume Pouch Filler, sometimes called the Blank Pouch Filling System. This fully automated machine fills and seals blank stand-up pouches whose tops are still open, including pouches with side-mounted spouts. It is aimed at higher-volume producers who want filling and sealing combined in a single automated process.

Next is the Center Fitment Pouch Filler, designed for efficient, precise filling. Pouches feed automatically from a magazine rail into a rotary turret, so it works well for products in spouted pouches with a central fitment and for operations that depend on consistent, repeatable fills.

The third system is the Manual Spout Pouch Filler, a manual unit for filling and sealing. It packs product into pouches formed from centre-folded film, which is drawn off a roll already folded in half and fed through a splitter loading arrangement. Smaller producers, and those testing pouch formats for the first time, get a practical entry point into pouch packaging.

In most cases the right choice depends on output, pouch format and the floor space available. A high-volume plant running long batches of stand-up pouches is likely to favour full automation. A business packing smaller runs, or bringing a product to market in a pouch for the first time, could begin with the manual system and move up later. Acepak’s team is available to talk through these needs and propose a solution built around each producer’s packaging and processing requirements, reflecting the company’s emphasis on customised, cost-effective automation.

Local manufacturing and support

There are real practical benefits to working with a packaging machine manufacturer that produces its machines in South Africa. Design, engineering, assembly and testing all happen in-house in Cape Town, and Acepak says it supports customers throughout the process, from manufacturing and programming through to maintenance and servicing.

A dedicated service and support division handles maintenance, training and technical help, giving plant teams the know-how to run and care for their equipment. Acepak has offices in Montague Gardens in Cape Town, Midrand in Gauteng and Pinetown in KwaZulu-Natal, as well as one in Skelmersdale, England, which gives it a footprint in South Africa’s main industrial regions and in the United Kingdom.

Connecting the filler to the rest of the line

Pouch fillers seldom operate in isolation. After filling and sealing, pouches still have to be collated, packed into cases or trays, labelled and palletised. Because Acepak is a packaging machine supplier that covers the entire end of the line, it can tie pouch filling into all of the downstream equipment that comes after it.

On the case packing side, the range takes in carton and tray erectors, case sealers, end loaded case packers, robotic case packers and wrap around case packers. For integration there are labellers and barcode applicators for cases and outer packs, trolley packers and sleeve shrink tunnels. Shrink wrappers, banding machines, and palletising and stretch wrapping systems round out the offer. The result is that a producer can plan a pouch line with a single supplier responsible for every machine from filler to pallet.

Acepak sums up its approach as end-of-line packing reinvented, offering turnkey systems that bring machine design, programming and long-term support together under one roof.

Sectors Acepak supplies

The company delivers tailored solutions to the beverage, food, dairy, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industries, along with other sectors that have specialised packaging and processing needs. Its website gives each industry a dedicated page listing the relevant machines. Dairy producers, for instance, will find pouch machines, case packing, integration, palletising and shrink wrapping all on one page.

Acepak calls itself Africa’s leading robotics and secondary packaging equipment manufacturer, and its vision focuses on making packaging automation efficient and transformative for customers. The values it lists are simplicity, customer-centricity, integrity and transparency, and sustainability, the last of which includes a commitment to responsible manufacturing practices.

The case for planning in October

The last quarter of the year is when many producers finalise next year’s budgets and put their capacity to the test for summer and the festive season. Looking at the pouch filling stage now leaves operations teams time to weigh up options, talk through pouch formats and fitments, and work out how a new filler would fit alongside their existing case packing and palletising equipment.

Choosing a local packing machine manufacturer also means the team that built the machine can handle installation, operator training and servicing. Acepak is open from 07:30 to 16:00, Monday to Friday. Enquiries can be sent via the contact form on its website or made by calling the nearest regional office, and a downloadable brochure lists the full machine catalogue.
