About those unaccounted for Exam Papers

The Eastcape Midlands TVET College said today that it prides itself in providing quality education to its students. Therefore, it is imperative to address issues that have been brought to the attention of the College.

Upon receipt of the November 2018 examination results, it was noticed that the Life Orientation Level 4 results of 72 students who wrote the paper were pending. On enquiry, the College was informed by the Department of Higher Education and Training (DHET) that marks were withheld due to the fact that 22 of the 72 scripts were unaccounted for. The College can ascertain that all procedures were followed to ensure that all scripts were dispatched to the Marking Centre.

As a precautionary measure, actions that were immediately taken included a report sent to the DHET Examination and Assessment (Marking) Unit; a request sent to DHET to release the results of the 50 unaffected students and the 72 affected students were registered for supplementary examinations.

The College acknowledges and regrets the impact this matter has on students. An action plan has been put in place to assist affected students who were accepted in other institutions and those seeking employment.

The Principal of the College is also engaging with DHET to resolve the matter as soon as possible.
