A Musical Interlude During a Weird and Unusual Year

The Music Society PE’s love for music has inspired them to arrange a lovely concert in the SUMMERSTRAND CHURCH on WEDNESDAY 21st OCTOBER 2020 at 18h00, which will be repeated on THURSDAY 22nd OCTOBER 2020 at 18h00.

This unique concert, SOIREE MUSICALE, ALBERT TROSKIE AND FRIENDS, will be jointly presented by the Feather Market Organ society and the PE Music Society. Several top PE Musicians will perform, and we will present a richly varied programme in the lovely acoustics of the Summerstrand Church. One can call it a THANKSGIVING-CONCERT to God for protecting us against the virus.

Artists that will perform include pianist, Erika Bothma, playing Fruhlingsnacht and Widmung by Schumann/Liszt. She will also appear with various singers and instrumentalists.

You will also hear the premiere performance of new organ and piano duo arrangements of Highland Cathedral, Serenade by Toselli and the Marche Militaire by Schubert.

As organ solos, Prof Albert Troskie will perform the Marche Triomphale by Jan Nieland, as well as two arrangements for organ and trumpet of Melita and Jesu and Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring.

Come and listen to a feast of well-known music performed on the organ, piano and various instruments (including trumpet, strings and flute) and sung by various soloists in the safe environment of the Summerstrand Church. The concert starts at 18h00 and Covid Protocol will be in place. Only 250 persons per concert will be allowed and the wearing of masks is compulsory. The church is very spacious, and social distancing will be no problem. Hand sanitising will be done at the door.

IMPORTANT: Please note the following:

Since we are limited to 250 people per concert, we will divide into two groups:

All those with surnames starting from A to M, come on Wednesday,21 October.
All those with surnames starting from N to Z, come on Thursday, 22 October.

We trust that you will be able to accept this arrangement. If, for some reason, it is not possible for you, please contact us on WhatsApp or SMS on 0827269595 (Albert Troskie) or 0823084494 (Erika Bothma), and we will arrange for you to attend the concert.

You cannot miss this!! Please bring your friends and family along. As members of the PEMS, you will receive FREE Admission upon presentation of your membership card. Admission for non-members is R50 for adults, R40 for pensioners, R30 for students. Leaners free.

NB: Note starting time: 18h00. Please come early and enjoy a free cup of coffee before the concert. There will be no interval and the concert should be over by 19h30. The church is in Louis Botha Crescent. There will be safe parking!
