WELKOM – Information was followed up about an employee of Matjhabeng Municipality with properties that belong to his employer. He was arrested for possession of suspected stolen items that amounts to R50 000-00.
On 22 December 2021 at about 06:00 a joint operation by Matjhabeng Municipality Law Enforcement, SAPS Lejweleputswa District Task Team and a private security company was held to follow up information on properties of the municipality.
The house of the employee was identified and approached and permission was requested to search his premises. The following items were found and identified as the properties that belongs to Matjhabeng Municipality : large quantities of plumbing equipment, tools, Machinery, Power tools, Personal Protective clothing and other sundry goods like fittings, clamps etc. The items seized are valued R50 000-00.
The 52-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties and will appear soon in Welkom Magistrate Court.
