At the recent Business Women’s Association of South Africa Regional Business Achievers Awards, Felicia Mabuza-Suttle was jetted in from Atlanta, Georgia, USA, to deliver a motivational talk – 7 Strategies of success and significance – to the nominees. This year BWASA celebrates 35 years of Courage, Achievement and Leadership.
Felicia acknowledged great women of our time starting with her own Mother who raised Felicia in Sophiatown. Felicia had dreams and she has managed to realise many of them.
Educate a man, you educate an individual, if you educate a woman, you educate a nation. She emphasized the importance of education – as her Dad used to tell her when she was growing up; “The Tax man can take everything from you, but no one can ever take away your education.” Parents need to ensure that children are well educated.
Courage is important, don’t let anything hold you back – dare to dream – Education, Success and Significance (ESS). We haven’t achieved much, unless we have moved someone forward.
On the Felicia show she used to say Reach out and touch someone’s hand make this world a better place, if you can… We need to act now – we pass through this world only once – so make sure that we do good and show kindness.
No one or nothing should stop you from securing their dreams.
A good education can allow children to rebound from any adversity and with a good education you can go anywhere in the World. Parents need to ensure that children are well educated.
You are never too old to give birth to your dreams either, so don’t sit back!
There is a bright future for children, make sure that you believe in them, that they are bright, brave, blessed and beautiful as it builds confidence.
Felicia is a strong proponent of visualisation, she wasn’t an A student, her Dad used to drive the family around Sandton and Houghton when she was a child and her and her sister used to play a game and pick the house in which they dreamt of staying in one day, she eventually managed to live in / own “Her” house in Sandton, which she used to dream about. Some of her other realised dreams where to live in Miami, work at a fortune 500 company and stay in Trump International. As she says; ” If you can believe it, you can achieve it! Visualisation does work – dream it – think it, visualise it and take action!”
Felicia loves South Africa and she welcomed the invitation from Michelle Brown – she thinks it important to make an impact on people. Felicia was instrumental in bridging the gaps between black and white on a TV program Pulse of the Nation.
Felicia is an inspiration to women and urged everyone in the room to make things happen and the ladies – to be gutsy girls!
