5 Reasons Why THIS is Fundamentally Wrong

22 Oct 2021 By Alan Straton

Our Executive Mayor tweeted the following yesterday from his Mayor Nqaba Bhanga account; “Today I opened one of the many roads that we have built/refurbished since taking over 10 months ago. We have put up R200 million into roads since taking over. We GET THINGS DONE. #VoteDA“

Why is it wrong?

  1. He opened the road as part of his official duty representing the entire Metro
  2. As part of a “non racist, non sexist, freedom of religion’ political party one would be safe to assume that the DA would also accept non-political as a tenet as well
  3. The colours of the ribbons and safety hats are BLUE – our Metro’s colours are NOT Blue
  4. He ASSUMES that the DA were the only people advocating for roads to be fixed, fixing the roads and using the roads
  5. He ASSUMES that the DA put R200 Million into Roads – as if it is the DA’s present to the peasants – and completely forgets that ratepayers across the metro are the ones that put the money up.

Need I go on?

Passionate about Port Elizabeth and definitely NOT packing for Perth. Alan's ethos is epitomised in the words of Nelson Mandela; "I have fought against white domination and I have fought against black domination. I have cherished the idea of a democratic and free society. If need be, it is an ideal for which I am prepared to die." See more articles by Alan.
