On the 16th of July 2011 ‘Dragonflies & Astronauts’ featuring The Parlotones – Driven by Volkswagen will be broadcast live from The Teatro at Montecasino in 3D. The transmission – a world first – will be beamed via satellite to 3D outlets around the globe.
The world first concept will transform audience expectations of a live show and is the first of numerous creative endeavours between innovative car brand, Volkswagen South Africa and the multi-platinum selling rock band, The Parlotones. Known for breaking creative boundaries with their music videos, marketing strategies and live performances, The Parlotones will set a new standard in live entertainment.
The partnership will see the high volume passenger car manufacturer and the iconic rock band join forces and set a new standard in creative marketing in 2011. The partnership achieves perfect synergy as both brands have become benchmarks in their fields.

‘Dragonflies & Astronauts’ is a rock theatre production which is being developed complete with storyline, sets and characters revolving around the greatest hits of The Parlotones. The show will run from the 11 – 17 July with the global broadcast taking place on the 16th of July. Local fans will be able to watch the performance live in 3D at 14 NuMetro cinemas throughout South Africa.
Executive producer and CEO of Sovereign Entertainment, Raphael Domalik is the driving force behind the phenomenal success of The Parlotones. Known to attempt what is considered the impossible, Raphael has achieved success on an unprecedented level in the South African music industry.
“This project was just what we needed to answer the question on everybody’s lips, ‘What could they possibly do next?’ Headlining the Coca Cola Dome was a South African first, it only seemed fitting it was time for a world first.” Said Raphael.
International fans will be able to see the live 3D production on various platforms which are currently being negotiated by co-executive producer Doug Stanley, CEO of Ridgeline Entertainment. With two decades of primetime production, Doug has been honoured with six Primetime Emmy Award nominations and recently won the 2008 Primetime Emmy Award for his work on Discovery Channel’s hit show “Deadliest Catch”

Eban Olivier and Danie van der Heever of Catalyst Entertainment are the creative minds behind the production. The talented team were responsible for the show design of the ground-breaking ‘Parlotones Live at the Coca Cola Dome’ as well as ‘Sony 3D Worldwide’ – the global launch of Sony’s 3D technology worldwide.
Port Elizabeth Fans of The Parlotones will be able to catch all the action in full 3D in real time at the NuMetro Theatre in Walmer on the day.
