2014 VW Rally Spectator Guide

The Algoa Rally Club, organisers of the Volkswagen Rally, say that much time has been spent this year in planning a rally that is spectator friendly and as accessible to the public as possible. The Super Special stages should prove particularly exciting, the two Jeffreys Bay stages on Friday evening will be crowd-pleasers and the new finish at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium will add a nice end to the finishing proceedings.

The rally takes place over two days this weekend – Friday and Saturday 11 and 12 July 2014.

Volkswagen Rally: Day 1

Stage 1 to Longmore Service Park (SP):

  • Proceed to Main Entrance (tar road)
  • 0.00 Zero ODO at T-Junction and turn RIGHT (Mission Road)

STAGE 7: Jeffreys Bay town stage:

  • First car: 18:00 From Fountain’s Mall head into Jeffrey’s Bay toward Da Gama Road. You will find the road closure area.
  • Find parking and then select your favoured spectating point.

Volkswagen Rally: Day 2

STAGES 8, 9, 10: PE Oval Track Raceway:
On Saturday morning the action takes place at and near the PE Oval Track Raceway (PEOTR). Here you will find the first three stages of day two taking place. All three of the stages in this area are in close proximity and two are Super Specials so you can see two cars on stage simultaneously for a very exciting start to the day.

  • Stage 8 – Mawethu Super 1 – First car: 07:48
  • Stage 9 – Mission Road – First car: 08:04
  • Stage 10 – Mawethu Super 2 – First car: 09:02

To get to PEOTR from PE follow the directions here. From Uitenhage follow the driving instructions from the rally start to start one of Friday.

  • Take the N2 freeway towards Cape Town / Humansdorp
  • Keep LEFT Exit 730 (Greenbushes)
  • Stop. Turn RIGHT Yield. Level crossing
  • T-junction. Stop. Turn RIGHT (Cape Road)
  • Turn LEFT (Mission Road/M10 Bethelsdorp)
  • STRAIGHT on Turn LEFT (PEOTR) There will be parking available and there are several spectating points available within this area

Stage 11: Culturama:
First car due: 09:38

  • Continue past Service Park (on Left hand side)
