Woodlands Dairy, a leader in sustainability, has once again partnered with Co-Zee to repurpose their branded collateral, such as gazebos, banners, and flags, into functional bags.
This initiative highlights Woodlands Dairy’s dedication to sustainability, emphasising recycling and waste reduction as key elements of their environmental efforts. Re-using is one of the 4Rs of effective waste management, alongside recycling, reducing, and recovering.
Ziona van den Heever, owner of Co-Zee, is thrilled to be part of this project again. “It’s a brilliant initiative that allows us to re-use materials, create jobs, and provide income. We teach new team members the basics, from measuring and cutting to sewing, until the product is complete. Every person we teach is a great reward and contributes to a stronger country.”
She mentions that she had two apprentices last year. “I gave each of them a sewing machine, and one started her own business making beautiful African dresses. We not only manufacture bags but also work with canvas to make bean bags, covers, and more. So far, we’ve made around 400 bags, with another 300 on the way, all from our home in Jeffreys Bay. Each bag is unique, strong, and versatile. Seeing them in the community is a joy.”
Marisa Maccaferri, Marketing Executive of Woodlands Dairy, explains that as a large company with numerous brands, they generate a significant amount of branded collateral that becomes outdated or worn out. “These items turn into waste when they can no longer be used. After last year’s success, we partnered with Co-Zee again to repurpose them. This collaboration helps upskill community members, generates revenue, supports other businesses, and boosts the local economy. Small businesses and entrepreneurs contribute to a thriving community, increased employment, and overall growth. Together, we can make a big difference, one step at a time.”
