St. Cuthbert’s Church

St. Cuthbert’s Church

Description

St. Cuthbert’s is an alive and growing Anglican church, in the Diocese of Gqeberha. We currently have a small full-time staff consisting of our Rector or Priest, with the assistance of a Curate, a Lay Pastor in charge of Pastoral Caring, and a Secretary. The staff is backed up by a church council that assists with the day-to-day running of the church, with portfolios like Finance, Fund-raising, Community Service, Social, Plant and Fabric, and more. Our staff is supported by a vast number of church members who assist with tasks ranging from running Bible Study (or cell, or house church) groups, to heading up ministries at the church (e.g. the Healing and Prayer Group, the Crisis Prayer Chain, the Intercessory Prayer Group, the Art & Craft Workparty, the Music and Worship Group, the Choir, and many more). St. Cuthbert’s has been going since 1884, and we are still going strong. We are a church, rich in history, blessed with uniqueness. We have, at St. C’s, a very rare combination of old and new worship styles. These function in close relationship, and love, with each other, each celebrated in the full glory that they are intended to have. We are aiming to serve people in our traditional and our lively contemporary services alike, without preference, or prejudice. Although we may not be the biggest, or the best equipped, you’ll find an attitude at ‘St.C’s’ (as we like to call it) that is very accommodating and accepting. Our services cater for the young and the old. We offer the traditional style of worship every Sunday at 08h00, as well as at various services during the week. We also offer a more contemporary, family-oriented worship service each Sunday at 09h30. The 18h00 service is an abbreviated Eucharist with prayer and reflection on the Word of God. On the third Sunday evening of each month the serivce takes the format of Prayer, Praise and ministry. We continuously offer a vast range of Bible Study groups, Christian courses, including the famous ‘ALPHA’ course, the Marriage Course and the Parenting Course; and a range of ministries in which our members are actively involved.
