On 13 April 2015 a Pro-Am golf tournament will tee off at the Humewood Golf Club who welcomed Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape as the Title Sponsor of the event. The Pro-Am aims to bring industry leaders and PGA Professionals together in aid of a greater cause.
PGA members from around the country will take part in this PGA sanctioned tournament and at the same entertain local and international businessmen on the only true Links course in Africa. The Leading order of merit winners will be participating in the event with points being allocated to the top 10 for the national order of merit.
There are 12 order of merit events in the Southern and Eastern Cape this year and with only one played here in Port Elizabeth. Humewood plan to build on this for the future with more exciting events planned for next year.
Jaguar Land Rover Eastern Cape have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting the local community and with this sponsorship of the Pro-Am Nkosinathi Foundation for Blind and Partially Sighted People.
The goal of the Nkosinathi Foundation is to support blind and partially sighted people to overcome the challenges of being blind and to reach their full potential through the independent, living skills training and supportive services.
Under the umbrella of Toc H the Nkosinathi Foundation was nominated as the recipient of donations from the Charity Golf Day.
Toc H was founded in 1915 in Poperinge Belguim by Rev Tubby Clayton who opened a haven for allied soldiers going to and returning from the front line. Talbot House, as it was named became a solace for these fighting men and the name Toc H was derived from the morse code for Talbot House. These soldiers returned to their homes and spread the motto of Talbot House throughout the world.
Love Widely… Build Bravely… Think Fairly… Witness Humbly
The first South African Toc H branch opened in Keiskama Hoek in 1925.
As an organisation Toc H generates their own funds with the Barnyard Charity Market and The Olde House self catering accommodation situated at 119 Cape Road. A charity shop in Johannesburg and many different fund raising projects in the Western Cape also contribute funds. All profits from fund raising efforts are ploughed back into the community to assist a wide spectrum of Welfare Organisations. The aim is to fill wish lists rather than give cash donations.
