On our Trip with AB Marine Whale and Dolphin Watching – @algoabaymarine – today we spotted this Bottlenose Dolphin with a hole clear through it’s dorsal fin. One wonders just how that happened. Editor: We know that people have been accused of using shotguns to shoot at dolphins competing for fish and this was the first suggestion that was made for this injury. We have also photographed dolphins with their dorsal fins sawed off by fishing line. All of which attest to the resilience of these mammals in our Bay AND the crying need for us to get along with fellow creatures AND not think of populating the Bay with even more industry like Fish Farms and the like.
