The Democratic Alliance (DA) has announced the candidates that will be contesting the November 5th by-elections in the recently vacated wards of the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro.
Ward 42, part of the Kwa-Nobuhle area, will be contested by Nomakazi Cobo. Nomakazi is a current DA councillor having served since the 2011 municipal election.
Ward 46, comprising part of Kwa-Nobuhle and all of Uitenhage, will be contested by Alvezo Fortuin, currently a Constituency Manager for the DA since 2011.
Both candidates have strong roots in their respective communities and have worked tirelessly to ensure that issues within the communities received the attention deserved.
Their knowledge and experience will undoubtedly add tremendous value to the wards in which they are contesting.
Retief Odendaal, DA Caucus leader for the Nelson Mandela Bay Metro, commented, “both Nomakazi and Alvezo have proven themselves in the field of local government and community matters. They carry the full endorsement and support of the DA Metro caucus and will be an invaluable asset to these communities should they be successful in their bid to win these wards.”
