Port Elizabeth is getting ready for the 2015 Muck Run, presented by Edge Financial Group, which is a fun mud and obstacle 5K suitable for everyone and taking place on the weekend of the 18th/19th April.
“If you can laugh, you can do it.” said race organiser Mike Zoetmulder of Zsports Events NPC. “The beauty of the Muck Run is that no special training is required. Come on down and have an awesome time in the mud and along the course which will feature no fewer than 10 outrageous obstacles that will guarantee you have a great time.”
“Whilst the event is built for good fun, we’re also on mission to support those less fortunate than ourselves. To this end, the Muck Run is collecting unwanted clothing (as well as the participants dirty race kit) which will be collected on race weekend by members from the Rotary Club of Port Elizabeth Sunrise to help raise funds for Khaya Cheshire, a Walmer Township based project that looks after children with disabilities.”
The obstacle run is hosted at Bushpig Adventures in Lakeside Road, Kragga Kamma, and is open to individuals or teams of 5 people. In order to cater for the demand, participants can choose from either the 3pm Saturday 5km run or the 10am Sunday 5km run whilst children under the age of 12 years who aren’t quiet ready for a 5km run can take part in their very own Muck Dash of 2km at 2pm on the Saturday.
Being a fun untimed event, the most popular category is usually the team category which is the best way to experience the Muck Run. By the very nature of the event, participants want to be with friends and family as they attempt their mucky exploits. All participants who register before the 1st April will each receive a finishers t-shirt as a reminder of their day at the Muck Run.
After getting dirty on the course, participants get to enjoy the clean-up station for a nice hot shower before heading over to the Festival area to grab some food, beer (or softdrink) and decide, once and for all, who had the most epic spill of the day. Woodlands Dairy will be putting up from awesome prizes for the best dressed individual and team on the day.
