A MyPE Tsolo selected video for you:
It was at the 2011 Hyères fashion festival, the same year that Tsolo Munkh won the public prize, that Philippe, the director, met this Mongolian designer. Just like the public, Philippe was immediately won over by the force of her models with their extreme features, and also by her know how very close to Haute Couture.
The collection’s theme was “Black Magic”. Animal-like figures immediately popped into Philippe’s imagination. The idea of an animal that could take on human forms, without being threatening. An idea inspired by Buddhist philosophy, not far from the designer’s own Mongolian origins.
The film’s storyline was set. It is a fairytale universe where there is an encounter between a young, fragile-looking doe and a hunter, caught off-guard.
With her blonde and pale, almost translucent, beauty, model Lia Catreux perfectly portrays this fabulous creature and her extreme delicacy allows her to wear Tsolo’s pieces with the necessary candor for the part.
Though the character of the hunter is not very present (Tsolo creates exclusively for women), he is present enough to evoke the idea of a hunt. There’s a play on the hunt, in which the hunted is not necessarily the one we’d expect.
Man’s place in nature is a recurring theme in Philippe’s directorial work. Such was the case in his previous film, Waster, shot on an arid island full of stones with a collection designed by Damir Doma. The style of this film is very different. The Sologne Forest seemed perfectly adapted for this world: a place where many trees and high-growing ferns are ideal for dissimulation.
