The Ironman Route is expected to be packed with spectators for the weekend – those well versed will erect gazebos, tents and other temporary structures and make a weekend of it. With the slight change in course you will be prudent to check out the routes before deciding to make the ‘Groot Trek’ to your favoured spot. The maps and videos of the different routes are below to help you make the right choice of spectator spot this weekend.
MyPE will be along the route in a special yet to be revealed tent (are you listening Matt Genrich?).
The long awaited Isuzu Ironman 70.3 World Championship takes place in Port Elizabeth on Saturday and Sunday 1 and 2 September. The Women’s Race takes place on Saturday – fans of Brooke Logan in the TV Soapie, the Bold and Beautiful will be looking out for Bib number 987 which the actress (real name Katherine Kelly Lang) will be sporting as she takes part. Lang will also be spending some of her time with fans, visiting historic sites and as part of her personal give-back cause, Breakaway from Cancer, whilst in South Africa.
