With respect to the Geneva level crossing occurrence on 4 January 2018: The RSR has concluded its preliminary investigation into the collision between a Shosholoza Meyl train and a truck at the Geneva level crossing in the Free State Province on 4 January 2018. The accident occurred when a Shosholoza Meyl train en route from Port Elizabeth to Johannesburg crashed into a truck that had failed to stop at a level crossing. SAPS Detectives in Despatch are investigating a case of culpable homicide after an unknown male was hit by a train at about 19:30 on 2 March. The accident occurred on the railway tracks, close to Holland Street, Heuwelkruin, Despatch.
