3 Beaches Challenge Results

Just under 200 participants took advantage of the near perfect beach weather on Sunday morning to take part in the final open water swimming event of the season, the City Lodge Hotels Group 3 Beaches Challenge at Pollok Beach. This unique event, managed by Zsports Events NPC, was open to individuals, teams of two, teams of 4, lifesaving Ironman participants and Stand-up Paddlers who all raced from Pollok Beach to Hobie Beach, to Humewood Beach, to Kings Beach and then ran back to Pollok Beach. 19 year old Keegan Cooke of Port Elizabeth secured the overall About IT Triathlon Series title for the second year running after a fantastic performance on Monday which saw him winning the 4th and final leg of the 4-part Series. Amid strong competition from around the country, the junior triumph in the traditional Boxing Day triathlon at Port St Francis in a time of 1hr 6min ahead of coach Richard Lawrie and Cape Town triathlete Dylan Pivo who will be relocating to Port Elizabeth in January. Junior triathlete Keegan Cooke claimed his second win from 3 starts in the 2015 About IT Triathlon Summer Series on Sunday morning to secure the 2015 Series title. Cooke just needs to complete the finale next Saturday at Port St Francis to win his maiden Series title. The 3rd round of the About IT Triathlon Summer Series saw each of the legs broken into two laps to make the racing more exciting for both participant and spectators. Two of SA's top triathletes from East London claimed the top two spots in the first round of the About IT Triathlon Summer Series held in ideal and hot conditions on Tuesday morning in Port Elizabeth.
