With regard to the currently striking municipal security, local security company Metro Security Services stated today that the current striking municipal security guards in Nelson Mandela Bay, are employed directly by the municipality and are not linked to Metro Security Services in any way, mean or form.
“It has been incorrectly reported by some media that the guards, who locked municipal workers out of some of the Nelson Mandela Bay municipal buildings today (Thursday 30 May 2013) are guards from Metro Security Services. This is not true,” said Metro Security Services Operations Director, Kaashief Niekerk.
“While Metro Security Services does provide onsite security services to a number of municipal facilities in the Bay, the striking guards in question are directly employed by the municipality’s Security Directorate, and the dispute is between the guards and the municipality.”
“Our security officers remain deployed at their various facilities and will continue to provide security and ensure the safety of the people using the facilities,” he said.
