Come and witness one of the most outrageous events on the Nelson Mandela Bay calendar taking place on Saturday morning as the 2014 News Cafe Stiletto Race hits the Boardwalk at 11am.
Participants will let their hair down and dress up for a whole lot of laughs as they tackle a 100m dash along the paved Boardwalk walkway between Wakaberry and News Cafe in their heels.
“This is one of our ‘tongue-in-cheek’ events to bring something fun and vibrant to the city”, said News Cafe owner Sandy Zoetmulder. “Being a vibrant cocktail bar, it’s great to have the opportunity to take the fun outside and this year we’ve got three different categories of entry available and some fantastic prizes from our fellow Boardwalk tenants and our hydration partner, BOS.”
Whether it’s the 100m dash for ladies in stiletto’s, the 100m dash for Men-in-Drag and wearing their heels or the popular 100m waiters race (traditional tray and drinks race without heels), you are sure to be amused. Dressing up has always been a part of this event and this year’s best dressed participant will win a fantastic two night stay for two at the 5-star Boardwalk Hotel.
The event is being organised by non-profit sports event company, Zsports who are also responsible for other fun community events like The Color Run, Muck Run and Urban Run. “The Stiletto Race is a great way to end off our really busy year as it’s so much fun and something totally different,” said Zsports Managing Director Mike Zoetmulder. “Come on down, dress up and get into the festive mood and who knows perhaps you’ll win a two night stay at the hotel.”
