The Southern Kings play against the Chiefs on Saturday 12 March 2016. Kick off is at 15h05 (SA Time) in Port Elizabeth’s Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium.
The team to play against the Chiefs was announced by Coach Deon Davids today.
Flyhalf Louis Fouche, having recovered from his injury, will assume the kicking role. “He has a cool head and is a guy that give us a bit of direction,” said Davids.
Referring to the bye that the Kings had this past week Davids said that the break was good for the team who took time to catch up and work in different areas.
The Kings debut game against the Sharks (lost 43-8) was a bit of a blood letting for the locals as fifteen of those players made their Super Rugby debut on that day.
The next three games for the Kings will be against New Zealand sides who, according to Davids; “… have exceptional talent and play the game at a very high tempo which brings different challenges which will be a massive learning curve for the boys again.”
“The Chiefs loss against the Lions definitely didn’t help us as this has now become an important game for them and I think they bring a huge challenge on Saturday,” said Davids.
Coach Deon Davids accompanied by Captain Steven Sykes announced the team as follows:
