Where is the outrage PEople?
Siphamandla Choma, a learner at Manyano Primary School in Mpumalanga, was left paralysed after allegedly being assaulted by his principal in November last year and sadly died on Human Rights Day 21 March as a result of his injuries. (See: SACE must account for fatal school assault for more info)
On Sunday 19 March a Man verbally abused a Woman in a Spur (one more reason for the Spur Group to rein back on the sugar they feed those kids and their parents). See any Facebook or Twitter page near you for the stream of rage being heaped upon South Africans.
Both are heinous acts.
BUT, surely people should be more outraged at an actual death rather than verbal abuse. Even our law recognises that people who kill other people, especially a child entrusted to their care, spend a lot more time in jail than those convicted of verbal abuse.
