It is alleged that at about 07:50 on 19 February, a 29 year old known gangster was shot and wounded outside a primary school in Shauderville Port Elizabeth. The man had just dropped off his fiancé, a teacher at the school and as he drove out the school gates, shots were fired from a white VW Golf. The man sustained three bullet wounds to his left shoulder. He was taken to hospital for treatment. No suspects arrested and police are investigating a case of attempted murder.
Police are appealing to the communities in the Northern areas to come forward and assist them in tracing the suspect/s. Information may be reported anonymously on 08600 10111. All information reported to police will be treated as strictly confidential. Be the eyes and ears of the police and work together with them in eradicating lawlessness in the Northern areas.
In another incident, a 19 year old teenager is expected to appear in court soon on charges of attempted murder (X2) and illegal possession of a firearm It is alleged that on Thursday, 18 February 2016 at about 18:15, the complainant (25 years) was walking on the road in Bethelsdorp when the suspect approached him and opened fire. At the same time, police heard the gunshots and immediately responded. The suspect also fired at police. A chase ensued on foot and the suspect was apprehended when he ran into a house and jumped into a bed. The suspect is unknown at the house. A Norinco 9mm firearm was confiscated by police. No injuries sustained.
