With the cancellation of the 2015 Johannesburg Motor Show the new vehicle expo at this weekend’s Absa Kirkwood Wildsfees will be one of the biggest new vehicle shows in the country.
“Visitors will be able to see the latest new cars and commercials from all three Eastern Cape-based original equipment manufacturers – Volkswagen, General Motors and Mercedes-Benz, as well as Isuzu which assembles trucks and bakkies in the province,” says festival director Jenni Honsbein.
“At least one new car launch is planned for the expo,” she adds.
Atul, which assembles three-wheel scooter combinations in the Eastern Cape, will also be represented.
Other marques on show include Great Wall Motors, Toyota, Suzuki, Iveco, MAN, Kia UD Trucks and JMC. There will also be JCB earthmoving equipment on display.
The Absa Kirkwood Wildsfees takes place from Friday, June 26 to Sunday, June 28.
In addition to the car expo there are mohair, outdoor and agricultural expos, as well as some 350 specialist stalls.
This year there is a special Kids Castle festival-within-a-festival.
Music lovers will also be able to see some of the country’s top artists live on the biggest stage in the Eastern Cape.
Entry to most of the attractions is included in the gate fee.
