Proposed Development of a Cement Grinding Facility In Coega

Dear Interested and Affected Party

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT ASSESSMENT FOR THE PROPOSED DEVELOPMENT OF A CEMENT GRINDING FACILITY ON A SITE LOCATED WITHIN THE COEGA INDUSTRIAL DEVELOPMENT ZONE, PORT ELIZABETH

The OSHO Cement (Pty) LTD is proposing to development of the Cement Grinding Facility within the Coega IDZ zone 5. The Coega Industrial Zone is located 6km east of the town Motherwell, Port Elizabeth. GIBB (Pty) Ltd (GIBB) has been appointed as the independent Environmental Assessment Practitioner (EAP) to compile the application and undertake the required Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Process.

Draft Environmental Impact Report available for public review from 22 April 2013 to 4 June 2013

As part of the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) process, GIBB Ltd has prepared a Draft Environmental Impact (EIA) Report which will be available for public review and comment from 22 April 2013 to 4 June 2013. The hard copy of the report will be made available at the following locations:

  • Main Public Library, Market Square, Govan Mbeki Avenue, Port Elizabeth
  • Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, Municipality street, Port Elizabeth
  • GIBB website: http://projects.gibb.co.za/en-za/projects/coegaslagmillproject.aspx

Invitation to a Public Meeting

A public participation meeting will be held in May 2013. The details of the meeting will be confirmed in due course. The purpose of the public meeting will be to present the outcomes of the EIA phase, and to allow discussions regarding the finding of the EIA. The contents of the DEIR will be presented during this meeting. Kindly contact us should you be interested to receive invitation and attend the public meeting.
