The Family Violence Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit in Port Elizabeth is seeking the community’s assistance in tracing an alleged rape suspect.
It is alleged that on Saturday, 4 March 2017 at about 14:05, the complainant (34 years old) was walking from Bloemendal to Kleinskool to board a taxi to Missionvale. On her way, she met an unknown male whom she asked for a light for her cigarette. They struck up a casual conversation with each other and the person walked with her. On the way, as they neared some bushy area, the suspect pushed her into the bushes and raped her. The victim was also stabbed. The suspect fled the scene with the victim’s bank card, cell phone and cash. The victim managed to get home and reported the incident to police.
The suspect is a coloured male, approximately 1,65 m tall. He is slender and light in complexion. He is about 29-31 years old and has a scar on his left cheek. He was wearing an earring with a coin sign on his right ear. He told the victim that his name was Shaun.
Anyone who can assist police in identifying the suspect is asked to contact D/Sgt Joshua Shilajoe at Port Elizabeth FCS on 071 475 2310 or 041 4013000. All information supplied is strictly confidential and informants have the right to remain anonymous.
