This Valentines day a series of pop up events will be hosted at 3 venues simultaneously to celebrate love and life. The sultry voice of Claire Venn will serenade lovers and wannabe lovers at Cafe Capellini Walmer Park. Shirley Valentine (aka Niqui Cloete-Barrass) will entertain patrons in the main dining area of Cafe Capellini Newton Park. And at Cafe Capellini Sunridge Park, Roland Gaspar will bring his comedic insight to those wanting to celebrate the Roman empire with an anti-Valentine view of the world.
Claire Venn has a unique voice and her story telling ability draws you into a relationship with the music. She is equally stellar whether she sings her own songs or covers other people’s work. She will be singing a mix of love songs on the evening and will be open to requests. Claire is well known at local venues and has performed often on Centrestage productions. Her mellifluous tones should be on your bucket list to enjoy locally. Why not do it with someone you love?
With a good sense of the occasion and the ability to engage her audience, Niqui will enthral those attending her unique take on Shirley Valentine. Don’t come with any other expectation than to be surprised, and possibly drawn into the repartee. Love is something you will experience on the evening, and your laugh-muscles will get a decent workout.
In love: Whose Line Is It Anyway? Who says “I love you” first? Or what food do you suggest for your first date? Relationships are hard! And just the man to make fun of that is Port Elizabeth‘s own Roland Gaspar. For those that have a bleak and cynical view of Valentines Day, you might rather want to head over to hear Roland take the piss, or just ignore the theme altogether and choose to celebrate a white Christmas or chocolately Easter or even Youth Day instead; because we are all young at heart chocoholics!
Each event is R140 per person which includes your choice of a delicious meal! Tickets are available at each of the venues (Cafe Capellini Newton Park, Sunridge Park, and Walmer Park) or through Steven (0760 275 280 or firstname.lastname@example.org) or Tracey (083 645 4341).
Each event starts at 7pm, with doors opening from 6.30. Go to it early and get your drinks sorted, because the entertainment won’t stop.
