On Thursday, 17 November 2016 the Pick ‘n Pay in Walmer Park in Port Elizabeth became the latest store to re-launch as part of Pick n Pay’s Next Generation project. Customers can expect superb, comprehensive product ranges from the revamped store, as well as open, easy-to-navigate spaces and a host of value-add services – all of which have been developed to create the most efficient and enjoyable customer experience.
“Our shoppers have told us they’re enjoying these new stores immensely,” said Pick n Pay Group Executive for Marketing, Adrian Naude. “They love the convenience of the new layout, the easy navigation, the innovation in products and the look and feel of the stores as a whole.”
Product ranges at the Walmer Park store have been handpicked to cater for the needs of the community shopping at this store, with many insights coming from Smart Shopper data on shopping trends in the area.
Customers at the revamped store can look forward to a more welcoming and appealing store with brighter colours and clearer signage, open spaces, dedicated destination areas, ‘hero’ departments with more products in innovative packaging, and a stronger focus on fresh products.
“We are particularly looking forward to introducing our shoppers to the all-new Fresh Hall, the signature of our Next Generation stores, which offers a larger product range than previously, along improved in-store technology,” said Store Manager Gerhard Smith. “The new system allows for faster replenishment, meaning shoppers will always get the freshest possible offering, no matter what time of day they choose to shop.”
And on the subject of fresh, in a very exciting first for a PE Pick n Pay store, customers will be able to order sushi at the all-new sushi counter and have it prepared while they wait – fresh and delicious!
Another exciting addition is the Grab and Go area, jam-packed with fresh and delicious convenience options.
Private Label brands, No Name, PnP and Finest, are looking great and customers now have access to a wider range of convenient and well-priced items. Look out for our new range of PnP Italian meals, including pizza, lasagne, and pasta bakes that taste amazing and offer great value for money. Also currently in store is our delicious festive season range which includes cakes, puddings, chocolates and much more.
Also in the new store is our improved Health & Beauty and Baby areas, where you’ll find bigger and better ranges from which to choose. The store’s clothing section boasts all the season’s must-haves at great prices, as well as a range of basics for the whole family
Our refreshed butchery will sell the best-quality selection of fresh meat and biltong and as always shoppers can expect the freshest (and sustainably caught) fish and seafood at our fish shop. The deli will serve up delicious hot and cold options and the bakery will bake a vast range of artisanal breads, pastries, rolls and confectionary throughout the day.
At the Money Counter you can save time by taking advantage of services such as the couriering of packages; booking travel and events tickets, paying accounts, purchasing Lotto tickets, topping up air time and iTunes and buying gift cards.
“Our aim is for our customers to have a truly enjoyable experience every time they visit our store, whether they’re doing a monthly shop, a quick top-up or picking up a snack at the new Grab n Go section,” said Smith.
We’re also happy to tell you our tills have been upgraded – they’re faster now to ensure the most efficient and pleasant shopping experience every time you visit the Walmer Park store.
“We’re pleased with the performance of these stores and so far the customer feedback has been incredibly positive,” said Naude. “We’ve forged a close bond with the local community over the years and we’re delighted to be bringing this new enhanced shopping experience to all our valued customers.”
