Wayne Harrison has officially stepped in as the new Managing Director of Boomtown as founder Neil Hart steps into a chairman role, focussing on the strategic business decisions.
Harrison, who has a long list of credentials having worked in the South African advertising industry since 1989 gaining experience in small, award-winning specialised brand agencies as well as large global networks, is set to combine his experience with the agency’s skill to create nationally recognised and award-winning campaigns. “I’m excited to work with such a talented team of diverse experts. It gives me the opportunity to apply my multi-disciplne brand building experience to collectively take Boomtown to the vanguard of our South African advertising and markeitng industry,” said Harrison.
Harrison has worked on brands such as Volkswagen South Africa, Old Mutual, Coca-Cola, Nestlé, South African Breweries and Pam Golding Property Group to name a few. Hand-picked to head up the Ogilvy operations in Namibai from 2009 to 2011, Harrison has also worked as Creative Director at Primaplus and Creative Director at Pam Golding Property Group. He has won four international, and several national creative awards, while recently winning 13 new business pitches over just 14 months.
“Boomtown has already managed to win three gold awards and the overall Inkosi award, the top award of the night, at the Assegai Integrated Marketing Awards for effective direct marketing campaigns. We are currently working on more innovative and effective solutions for our clients. Part of what excites me about Boomtown is our ability to combine original creativity with strong research and strategy to create memorable, effective and measurable campaigns for clients,” added Harrison.
