In the midst of my wondering why so many people have tweeted and liked the MyPE article about Bill and Chelsea Clinton visiting the Ubuntu Education Centre in Zwide, Port Elizabeth yesterday I Stumbled Upon a retweet by a Mark Bartels.
As part of my drive to add as many Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch twits to the various Twitterati lists maintained by MyPE I did the normal thing and had a look at Mark’s profile, only to discover that the is the CEO of StumbleUpon – a web site that helps you easily discover new and interesting stuff on the Web. From a personal point of view I have used StumbleUpon from when they were a start up – this was way before that other social media site sometimes called “group sex for amoebas”. I haven’t added much to my page though, preferring to be an observer rather than a participant.
An invitation: Those who have a StumbleUpon account can add interesting discoveries on the web about our region to a list page that I created today: MyPE – Port Elizabeth, Uitenhage and Despatch. In fact it looks like Mark Bartels has an abiding interest in Africa as he has already added the Bill and Chelsea Clinton article to his Africa List.
I have a challenge for Port Elizabeth business:
Maybe by doing so Mark will remember Port Elizabeth and the Ubuntu Education Centre and donate a chunk of money to Ubuntu when his ship comes in and he sells StumbleUpon for BILLIONS – no pressure Mark!
And Mark replies – How cool is it that he is from good old P of E?
@MyPE Thanks Alan. I'm born and bred in PE. Big Ubuntu fan. Clinton visit is fantastic. Thank you for all you are doing.
