Senior dancers from Ellen Bunting Dance Academy are set to represent the Eastern Cape at the South African Championships of the Performing Arts in Rustenburg this coming week. The dancers compete over a ten day period, 1 April 2016 – 10 April 2016 and are competing in various styles including contemporary, lyrical, hip hop and tap dance.
“This is a first for Ellen Bunting Dance Academy; however the girls are a strong group of performers and I have no doubt that they’ll grow from this opportunity, not just as individuals but as a team. They’re going to be exposed to various art forms from around the country, which will inevitably help them in developing their individual strengths and hopefully encourage them to challenge themselves for next year’s competition,” said teacher and owner of Ellen Bunting Dance Academy, Simóne Buchner.
South African Championships of the Performing Arts aims to develop and co-ordinate programs designed to enhance the wellbeing of the Performing Arts Industry within South Africa, by creating an infrastructure to ensure that all contestants have a gateway to become a world champion.
