Algoa FM’s Charl Leslie and Jacque Arendt have both been selected to be a part of the adjudication panel for the 23rd Annual South African Music Awards.
The SAMAs is South Africa’s premier annual music awards event. It recognises the accomplishments and celebrates the diversity of the South African recording industry.
It will be tenth year that Arendt has been a part of the adjudication process for the SAMAs.
“This year I’ll be judging the category, Best Contemporary Afrikaans Album. I enjoy being a part of the adjudication process because I absolutely love music,” he says.
Leslie has been selected for the first time to be a part of the adjudication panel.
“Not many listeners know this, but besides doing the Sunday Sitdown and the Charl Cooks feature, I’m also the Music Compiler at Algoa FM. Being a part of the adjudication process for the SAMA 23 Awards is a different process. It’s really cool to be able to assess an entire body of work, as opposed to just one song,” he says.
The SAMA 23 Awards is not the only awards that will have members if the Algoa FM team on their adjudication panel.
Alfie Jay, Algoa FM’s programming director, Nadia Pieterse, Algoa FM’s Senior Creative Executive and Mio Khondleka, Algoa FM’s lunchtime presenter, are part of the adjudication panel for the Radio Liberty Awards.
