The Top 40 under 40 is a showcase of local business talent under the age of 40 compiled by the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber (NMBBC).
Jaco Serfontein (24), the Managing Director at Nutritech, started young and has the will to keep going.
An advocate of a healthy approach to living, 2009 saw him open up a company sourcing raw materials for use in nutritional supplements. Fast forward to early 2011, and Serfontein opened up his own supplement company called Nutritech Nutrition Technology. “After two years of extensive research, I have now set up a factory with a clinical laboratory,” explains Serfontein. Stockists throughout the Eastern Cape, along the Garden Route, in Nelspruit, the Western Cape and Durban mean that Serfontein is covering a lot of ground – and fast.
“Our goal is to branch out into more retailers within South Africa as well as open up a few stores in the UK in the next year or two,” he says. Already, Serfontein has aligned his company with top athletes and fitness models, bringing credence to his brand and the lifestyle it encourages.
“My life, education and business are all invested in Nelson Mandela Bay,” says the young MBA candidate, “and I am more than willing to put in the effort to succeed.”

The Top 40 Under 40 list, an NMBBC initiative, was compiled from nominations and selected by an independent panel at the NMBBC. The end result is a showcase of talented and ambitious young businesspeople from diverse sectors in Nelson Mandela Bay. From 7 December 2011, MyPE showcases one under 40 achiever a day.
