The IRONMAN 4 the Kidz Charity Trust today officially announced that they will be handing over a 60-seater school bus to Heatherbank Primary School.
“IRONMAN 4 the Kidz continues to go above and beyond for our community. On Monday, 18 February 2019, the charity will be handing over a 60-seater school bus to Heatherbank Primary School. Gary Stephenson and his team work tirelessly week in and week out to make sure the future leaders of tomorrow are cared for today,” said Keith Bowler, IRONMAN South Africa Managing Director.
Ahead of the 2018 Isuzu IRONMAN 70.3 World Championship, IRONMAN 4 the Kidz together with Isuzu and the IRONMAN Foundation joined forces activating three Legacy projects for those in need in Nelson Mandela Bay. These projects included building the Early Birds Day Care, general maintenance and painting of cottages at The Eastern Province Child and Youth Centre and now providing a 60-seater school bus to Heatherbank Primary School to transport the kids from the Walmer township and surrounds to school and back daily.
“Garth (Wright) and I started IRONMAN 4 the Kidz in 2005 and we would have never imagined we would get the unbelievable support we’ve received from our athletes, sponsors and the public. We essentially started this because we believed that the way to tackle something as challenging as the IRONMAN is to be motivated by a bigger cause such as improving the lives of underprivileged children.
The IRONMAN for the Kidz Charity Trust is entering its 15th year of fund raising and has to-date successfully distributed more than R17 million to children’s charities in South Africa,” said Gary Stephenson, IRONMAN 4 the Kidz co-founder.
