Closing off the special Jazz’Afro Sundays@ The Barn Heritage Month Edition will be veteran Jazz diva extraordinaire Vuyelwa Luzipo and sassy Sabasa Afro Jazz Band.
These two acts will be on the Jazz’Afro Sundays stage from 17:00 on Sunday 23 September with music that will take us back to yesteryear when halls and live performance venues in New Brighton, Seyisi and Kwazakhele used to be jam packed with smartly dressed patrons with a huge thirst for music and were enthralled by the musings of the legends Soul Jazzmen, Victor Ndlazilwana, Black Slave and many more.

Whilst still in teaching college Vuyelwa performed in the school jazz band alongside the great Duke Ngcukana and Wela Matomela. When she returned to Port Elizabeth Vuyelwa became the lead singer for the acclaimed Soul Jazzmen and toured South Africa with the band. Vuyelwa has shared the stage with South Africa’s Jazz vocalists Thandi Klaasen, Gloria Bosman, Sylvia Mdunyelwa and Abigail Khubeka. In 2004 she along the late greats Lineo Libakeng, Nomzamo Mkhuzo, Webro Mosia and Nomalungelo Mwanda.
Sabasa Afro Jazz Band was formed by five friends Mncedisi Bangani, Ndyebo Nkwena, Andile Makhanda, Themba Mzantsi and Daliwonga who wanted to not only entertain their community members but also instill the love, passion and dedication of their appreciation of Jazz music to the youth.
