Port Elizabeth fashionistas will be able to find the very best in locally designed clothing and accessories at the city’s first-ever dedicated fashion expo at Moffett on Main Lifestyle Centre on May 30 and 31.
According to coordinator Elsje Smuts of Trueblue Communication and Events, A Fashion Affair provided a platform for talented local designers to showcase their ranges and for shoppers to discover never-before-seen items.
“We have so much design talent in this city,” said Smuts.
“A Fashion Affair is about showcasing this talent and proving that PE is on trend with what’s happening in the fashion world.”
Following the success of her Christmas in the Home market last year, Smuts said she had been approached by a number of boutique exhibitors asking whether she would consider putting on an exclusive fashion expo.
“So here we are. It’s going to be a shopper’s paradise,” she said.
Smuts said the event also provided an opportunity for boutique owners to connect with local designers with a view to creating exclusive ranges for their stores.
A Fashion Affair will feature some 30 top exhibitors including jewellery designer Jenni Gault and fashion fundi Thabo Makhetha, who was recently named one of the city’s “Top 40 Under 40” achievers by the Nelson Mandela Bay Business Chamber.
The first 50 shoppers who visit the expo on Friday and Saturday will each receive a gift voucher, sponsored by Jenni Gault International Jewellery Design.
The event takes place in a vacant shop space, near the Checkers entrance to the mall, from 9am to 6pm daily. Entry fees are R20 per person.
